A New Beginning
for Auxiliary 67

My name is Darcy Smith, newly elected President of the Branch 9 Auxiliary. My husband is Mike Smith, a City Letter Carrier, Steward, and Trustee for our Branch. Mike has been active for the union for many years, and I have always been by his side wanting to help any way I could. President Pam Donato asked me if I would like to continue our Auxiliary’s work, and I was excited to take on the challenge. The Auxiliary has been around for more than 75 years. Before letter carriers could legally become active in any politics, it was the Auxiliary that took up that cause. At one time, letter carriers could not even have a political sign in their yard. I had a chance to meet Trinetta Doll, the Past Auxiliary 67 President. The local, state, and national auxiliaries were so involved for our causes and political issues; we owe them so much gratitude. I am asking spouses and family members (age 16 or older) to get involved in our local Auxiliary. We can fund raise, make gifts, donate time to help with our MDA fund raisers, etc. It will be fun to get together and meet every 3 months or so, to get caught up on current issues and make plans for our State and National Conventions. Please call me if you want to join, or just have questions. With Branch 9 hosting the National Convention in 2012 we need a lot of people to step up! My home phone is (612) 866-8055. The more members we have, the more we can do and have a lot of fun doing it! GET INVOLVED!! Thank you. Darcy Smith
