MIARAP II
As the month of February comes to an end, so does the second phase of the MIARAP process. The national MOU requires that all adjustments be implemented by February 28th and it appears that all adjustments for Branch 9 Offices will be. The National MOU expires with these adjustments and no new process has been announced by the National Parties. So the question for many is what’s next? No route adjustment process is perfect and there are going to be flaws. If a carrier believes their route is out of adjustment and can demonstrate at least ½ hour of auxiliary assistance or overtime three days each week over a six-week period they can request a Special Inspection. This triggers a 6-day count and inspection which must be conducted within 28 days of the request. If you want more information, contact your steward or the Branch Office.
As this phase of MIARAP concludes, we want to thank those carriers who stepped up to be local contacts during this process. It is through your efforts that the carriers at your units were given the opportunity to give their input to this process and tell management what the numbers could not. We also want to thank those carriers who stepped up to and served as part of the District Route Evaluation and Adjustment Teams (DEAT). Darryl Maus, Julie Waldemar, Joe Rian, JoAnn Gilbaugh, Rick Rimer, Lisa O’Neill, Rick Onslow and Jim Nelson. Their work was not easy and we greatly appreciate their willingness to step up to ensure the carriers rights under the memorandums were adhered to.
